In a departure from the usual Mandarin Library venue, the meeting was held at the Haskel Company offices thanks to Assistant Coordinator Nandu Shah.

President Mayuri Shah chaired the meeting. She opened the meeting with an invocation and led the group in recitation of the Pledge, and the Toastmasters’ Mission Statement.

The word of the day was Perseverance (to stick with something).

Program Coordinator Beverly Farnell led the group in an educational exercise in Chairmanship and Roberts’ Rules of Order to prepare them for a business session on makeup of the final YLP meeting.

After introduction of motions, discussion, debate and voting, the group decided that the final meeting should include:

§          Invitation of parents and siblings;

§          Three or four prepared speeches and Table Topics;

§          Dress standards – males with collared shirts and dress pants; females with skirts or dresses; participants to meet or exceed standards.

There was discussion concerning rescheduling of the last meeting since it was to occur on Memorial Day weekend. It was decided that a pool would be taken to see how many participants might be away for the weekend.

Chairperson Shah announced winners and presented the awards for:

Best Table Topic:     Mayuri Shah

Best Evaluator:       Chad Cutlip

Best Speaker:         Jonathan Tannen
