In a departure from the usual Mandarin Library venue, the meeting was held at the Haskel Company offices thanks to Assistant Coordinator Nandu Shah.
President Mayuri Shah chaired the meeting. She opened the meeting with an invocation and led the group in recitation of the Pledge, and the Toastmasters’ Mission Statement.
The word of the day was Perseverance (to stick with something).

Bernard Chu “Would You Be Prepared to Provide for Yourself Financially After High School?” Mayuri Shah “How Do You Feel About Spending Money?” Adi Jovich “How Do You Feel About Credit Card and Your Understanding of Them?” Jonathan Tannen “What Do You Expect Your First Year of College Will Be Like? Nima Sharifai “Do You Think You Should Start College Right After High School?” Marco Rojas “Should a Person Pay Rent to His Parents If He Decides Not to Go to College?” Myriam Maida “Has High School Prepared You to Be On Your Own?” Chairperson Shah reviewed Evaluator assignments prior to introducing the speakers. Prepared speeches were delivered by: Jonathan Tannen The Top 50 Shows of All Time – television at its finest, including The Simpsons Ashley Graham My Family and Friends – reasons to take care of yourself and behave responsibly. Pulin Patel His Airness, Michael Jordan – a potpourri of basketball. Speeches were evaluated by Sejal Shah, Myriam Maida and Chad Cutlip.
Program Coordinator Beverly Farnell led the group in an educational exercise in Chairmanship and Roberts’ Rules of Order to prepare them for a business session on makeup of the final YLP meeting.
After introduction of motions, discussion, debate and voting, the group decided that the final meeting should include:
§ Invitation of parents and siblings; § Three or four prepared speeches and Table Topics; § Dress standards – males with collared shirts and dress pants; females with skirts or dresses; participants to meet or exceed standards.
There was discussion concerning rescheduling of the last meeting since it was to occur on Memorial Day weekend. It was decided that a pool would be taken to see how many participants might be away for the weekend.
Chairperson Shah announced winners and presented the awards for:

Toastmaster Nandu Shah provided a general evaluation of the meeting.
President Shah called for comments and adjourned the meeting at 5:45 p.m.
