President Houtan Taba called the meeting to order and led the group in the Pledge, Mission Statement, and Invocation.
Program Coordinator Beverly Farnell discussed elements of good speech as well as appropriate control and surrendering of the lectern.
Yurania Causey provided an overview of the speech evaluation process and essentials of effective evaluation.
Ice-breaker speeches were delivered by:
Rebecca Roden Mayuri Shah Jonathan Tannen Chad Cutlip Bernard Chu Elizabeth Oehl.
Yurania Causey initiated the speech evaluation portion of the meeting, evaluating the speech of Rebecca Roden Millie Tannen evaluated the speech of Mayuri Shah. Adi Jovovic evaluated Jonathan Tannen’s speech. Pulin Patel evaluated Chad Cutlip’s speech. Sejal Shah evaluated the speech of Bernard Chu Joseph Young provided the evaluation of Elizabeth Oehl’s speech. Program Coordinator Farnell reiterated some techniques for more effective speaking as well as appropriate protocol for assuming and surrendering control of the lectern (the person leaving the lectern should always walk behind the speaker taking control of the lectern.)
David J. Rafanowicz provided an overall evaluation of the meeting, including suggestions for speech improvement.
President Houtan Taba closed the meeting with words of encouragement.
Club Secretary Elizabeth will publish names of individuals to give their Ice Breaker speech at the next two meetings.
